Dr. Debbie Joffe Ellis – Relishing the Gift of Life, Creating Joy, and Tenderly and Unconditionally Accepting Ourselves!

Posted on May 30, 2023 by Kristina Krump
Dr. Debbie Joffe Ellis was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia. New York City has been her home base for the past two decades. She is a licensed psychologist (Australia), licensed mental health counselor (New York), presenter, writer, and adjunct professor at Columbia University in New York City where she teaches Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and Comparative Psychotherapies. For years she worked with her husband, the brilliant and renowned pioneer of modern cognitive therapies: Dr. Albert Ellis, giving public presentations and professional training in his approach of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), and one of the things that inspires her joy these days is to share its empowering and loving elements with others!
One of the greatest tragedies known to humankind might be the fact that countless people blame their circumstances for their emotional states, and are not aware of the immense power each of us has to create our emotional destinies – no matter how dire our circumstances may be, or may have been, at times. When we motivate ourselves to make the effort to think in realistic, optimistic, and life-enhancing ways, then we can create healthy emotions, which include immense joy, in our lives, and minimize emotional suffering.
The no-nonsense, scientific, evidence-based, and deeply compassionate pioneering cognitive approach of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) will be a core element of the presentation, with ample opportunities for attendees to reflect on their tendencies to think in both rational and irrational ways, and to learn tools for adopting attitudes that are empowering and that create meaningful, tranquil and beautifully crafted lives!
