13 Days of Giving – Day 1
It’s Better to Give Than to Receive!
Giving Tuesday, celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the United States, is a global movement dedicated to encouraging charitable giving and acts of kindness.
In the Women for Sobriety (WFS) community, these values resonate deeply. Our mission is centered around empowering women in recovery through mutual support and shared experiences. As we navigate the journey of sobriety together, we recognize that giving back to our community fosters connection, strengthens bonds, and reinforces our commitment to one another.
This year, in the spirit of Giving Tuesday, we’re excited to announce a special initiative: we are embracing the theme “It’s Better to Give Than to Receive.” We believe that the essence of generosity is not solely about monetary donations; it’s about sharing love, support, and kindness within our community.
To celebrate this spirit, we will have 13 Days of Giving! Each Of these 13 days, we will be offering a special gift or chance to win a special gift to our WFS community. Our goal is to uplift and inspire, reminding everyone of the incredible strength and resilience we possess as a community.
We invite all members of the Women for Sobriety community to participate in this joyous celebration of giving. Each day, we will announce a new opportunity to receive a thoughtful gift, and we encourage everyone to share their own stories of generosity and kindness throughout this season. Together, we can create a ripple effect of positivity and support, reinforcing the bonds that make our community so unique.
As we embark on this journey of gratitude and giving, let us remember that every act of kindness counts. In the WFS community, we are not just individuals in recovery; we are a family supporting one another on this transformative path. By choosing to give, we honor our shared experiences and lift each other up in ways that words alone cannot express.
Let’s make this Giving Tuesday and the previous 12 days a celebration of love, support, and generosity. Together, we can show that it is indeed better to give than to receive, and in doing so, we can foster a deeper sense of connection within our incredible community.
Thank you for being a part of Women for Sobriety. Your strength, compassion, and commitment to one another make this community a truly remarkable place. Let’s spread joy, share kindness, and celebrate the power of giving!
With gratitude,
Michelle Shaivitz, Ed.D.

Give time. Give gratitude. Give support. Donating and volunteering is not just a nice idea, there is science behind its benefits. Giving social support—time, effort, or goods—is associated with better overall health and well-being. Check it out!
